Let’s work together

Kari is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and provides supervision to new clinicians who are working toward licensure. Kari provides insight and guidance on how to hone clinical skills and adapt their style to the complex needs of diverse clients. She provides feedback on social justice issues, ethical dilemmas, complex trauma situations, and isomorphic processes in the self-of-the-therapist work.

She also leads Couples Supervision Consultation groups at various therapy practices in Chicago. If you are a new therapist and interested in working with Kari in supervision, please reach out.

  • To say Kari goes above and beyond in her role as a supervisor would be an understatement. She is not only a wealth of knowledge and resources, but she has a deeply vested interest in her supervisees, and it shows. She has supported me in building my confidence as a clinician and inspired me to grow and learn in countless ways; an integral factor of this has been her innate way of making you feel cared for and understood. Kari has set a standard as a clinician, and person, that I can only strive to someday achieve. I am so incredibly grateful to have had her influence and encouragement as I have continued to advance in my career in the field.

  • Kari is thoughtful, insightful, and very responsive. I truly enjoy having her as a supervisor! Kari is flexible: she adapts her style and feedback during times when I want to explore a different approach. She's invested in my development and success as a counselor: Kari has built me up when I've doubted my skills or knowledge, always using specific examples from my clients' sessions. She has created a safe space for both successes and mistakes. I love that she challenges me to see elements of a client's content or process that I haven't considered. Then — because she's committed to my experience as an intern both during supervision and afterwards — she follows up with encouragement, helpful resources, or a personal check-in. She continually demonstrates how much she cares about my growth as a clinician. And I have no doubt she also cares about my growth as a human — one who is navigating this new, weighty role of counseling others.

  • Kari is a fantastic supervisor! She creates a supportive environment in which it is safe to explore countertransference and deeper feelings within her supervisees that inform our practice of therapy. She is highly knowledgeable and always has an artillery of resources ready to send to us at our request. Kari cares deeply about her supervisees and our clients, and encourages us to rest and engage in self care after difficult sessions. I am so grateful for Kari's support; she has helped me grow in ways I didn't know I could over the course of my internship.

  • While working with Kari during supervision, I felt heard and seen. I could bring any questions or cases I had to her and she is a wealth of resources and knowledge. She encouraged me to explore more self-of-the-therapist throughout our time together which really helped me develop more as a therapist. Kari holds space and safety in a way that allowed me to be professionally vulnerable which was amazing to experience. Kari is hands down, one of the most supportive and caring supervisors I've ever had.
